Results of Recreational Needs Survey

In 2005 the Recreation Facilities Planning Committee did a survey requesting public input into area of recreational needs for the community. The survey questionnaire was included in the annual newsletter to every taxpayer in the Resort Village. The number of respondents was very low, approx 7%.

The survey results are:

  Permanent Residents:     Non-permanent Residents
1. Green Space 77%   Green Space 61.3%
2. Picnic Tables 74.7%   Enhanced Playground 49.3%
3. Enhanced Playground 72.4%   Picnic Tables 41.3%
4. Barbeque Pits 69%   Tennis Court 38.7%
5. Skating Rink 57.5%   Barbeque Pits 36%

Net results are:

1. Green Space 62.3%
2. Enhanced Playground 55.5%
3. Barbeque Pits 53.8%
4. Picnic Tables 53.1%
5. Basketball net 45.7%

I would like to thank all the members and volunteers who generously donated their talents and time to serve on the following committees.

  • Parks and Rec
  • Trails Advisory Group
  • Canada Day
  • Centennial and Home Coming
  • Recreational Facilities Planning

It is through your involvement and positive attitude that makes this community a better place to live. I hope your interest in the community will continue in 2006.
My sincere wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year to everyone!
